Supermarket Vouchers & Grocery Cashback, Explained

A voucher changes the price at checkout. Cashback is usually claimed after a qualifying purchase. Neither is automatically free money.

Read the qualifying conditions

Check the eligible product, pack size, retailer, purchase dates, minimum spend and whether the offer is limited to new customers. Check whether a loyalty card or app is required.

Understand the claim

A cashback offer may require a receipt upload and approval. Find the claim deadline, payout method and any withdrawal threshold before buying. Keep the receipt until the claim is resolved.

Identify the provider

Verify the offer through the retailer’s own website or app where possible. A page using a supermarket name or logo is not necessarily run by that supermarket. Avoid giving payment or identity information without checking who is requesting it.

Compare the net price

If an item costs £5 and has £1 cashback, the eventual cost is £4 only if the claim qualifies and is paid. A £3.50 alternative may still be cheaper.
